Joining That Club

There’s an old Woody Allen joke about wanting to join a club that wouldn’t have you as a member. Guess what? You just did!

Not everyone can kiss death and come back to talk about it. You just joined a very special club, whether you realize it or not. We “I’ve had a near-death experience” people are rare. Maybe you might seek out others who have joined that club.

When you start thinking of yourself as a rare person, everything changes. You become proud of yourself. Hey, I survived!  Maybe even I’m stronger! Whatever I can do, I worked hard at. Nothing came easily. And it took a whole bunch of therapists to get me to…fill in the blank.

You can pretend nothing really happened, but it did. You’ve earned your pin. Wear it proudly. That club is actually a pretty good one.
